In general for Employment Security means the application of security concepts and pro-active attitude of the worker to perform their work in an optimal way and aligned with the requirements of production and prevention of risks in their sector. Both agencies and shipping companies associated with port operations (dealers, suppliers of inputs, etc.), as the Port of Iquique (EPI) are concerned about the safety of their workers. For this governing their safety and prevention measures by Law No. 16744 "on accidents and occupational diseases", which provides general guidelines to companies in which the security elements to be delivered to their workers, according to work that is going to be develop. The Maritime Authority is the authority that controls the use of these elements and monitors compliance with safety standards. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Port of Iquique monitors the activities inside the port and enforcement of risk prevention. Plan to comply with occupational safety and prevention in place by companies involved in maritime affairs - port, workers should wear the operational elements of protection for activities inside the port (primary zone). These are: Empresa Portuaria Iquique has developed a Hazard Prevention Program which is governed by the agenda of the Competitive Enterprise issued by the Mutual Security of the Chilean Chamber of Construction. This sequence is continuous and subject to audit on a quarterly basis.
