5. Freight by type of operation

The import and export cargo accounted for 84% of the total freight in 2008. 51.3% of the tonnage moved was in charge of import (1,549,312 tons), which is the main destination Iquique Free Trade Zone and countries of the Andean region macro.

On the other hand, charges for export accounted for 32.3% of total tonnage moved (974,481 tons), being the main products, fishmeal and copper.
